March and April Beekeeping - There is A LOT Going On 😀 Need to order bees? - Do it NOW!: (See March 3rd email for Suppliers List and Discussion) Early Spring Nectar Flow: Silver and Red Maples are producing pollen and nectar - Bees ARE Harvesting Brood areas are expanding:
Check them on a warmer day (65 deg and above) No need to see a queen (If there are eggs and larvae, she IS there) Assess how many frame-sides of brood you have Swarming? - Not likely now, but may begin in mid April, May for sure (Mark your calendars to check brood areas at least once a week) Hope to Trap a Swarm Trap? - Be ready by Mid April Personal dead out? - Have it cleaned up and ready Separate Swarm Trap? - Set it up and located Mid April
Equipment ready to go? - Yes, you can use deadout equipment, BUT it should be prepared - Come to March 22nd workshop Need a Mentor? - Come to March 17th meeting
