Summer Beekeeping Challenges, Considerations
Summer Beekeeping Has its own Considerations
- Aggressive Bees: Why? Strategies to Minimize
- Robbing: Why it occurs, what to watch for, what can be done?
- Decreased nectar flows and declining brood formation; feeding?
- High Temperatures: Bearding, Strategies to help bees “keep cool"
- Staying ahead of Varroa Mites
- Late Season Harvesting: Still a possibility?
Bring your own Questions - Share your experiences.
Come - Listen - Ask - Learn.
😃 This is an awesome opportunity! Bee There 😃
Other Meeting items for consideration:
- Should you consider requeening? 🤔
- Do you have Hive Inspection questions 🤔
- Swarm season is largely past, BUT “Bees don’t read the book” 🙄
- Other Questions 🤔 - Bring Them ON! 😃
Things to Keep in Mind:
- How are your colonies doing? What should you be watching for?
- Nectar flows are diminishing. - Is feeding appropriate?
- Guard against “Honey Bound” brood areas. This backfilling encourages swarming and can lead to collapsing colony populations
- Watch for July and August beekeeping calendars in a separate email
