Summer Beekeeping Challenges, Considerations

Summer Beekeeping Has its own Considerations

  • Aggressive Bees: Why? Strategies to Minimize
  • Robbing:  Why it occurs, what to watch for, what can be done?
  • Decreased nectar flows and declining brood formation; feeding?
  • High Temperatures: Bearding, Strategies to help bees “keep cool"
  • Staying ahead of Varroa Mites
  • Late Season Harvesting:  Still a possibility?

Bring your own Questions   -  Share your experiences.

Come - Listen - Ask - Learn.

😃  This is an awesome opportunity!  Bee There  😃

Other Meeting items for consideration:

  • Should you consider requeening? 🤔
  • Do you have Hive Inspection questions 🤔
  • Swarm season is largely past, BUT “Bees don’t read the book” 🙄
  • Other Questions  🤔  - Bring Them ON! 😃

Things to Keep in Mind:
  • How are your colonies doing?  What should you be watching for?
  • Nectar flows are diminishing. - Is feeding appropriate?
  • Guard against “Honey Bound” brood areas. This backfilling encourages swarming and can lead to collapsing colony populations
  • Watch for July and August beekeeping calendars in a separate email
