Due to last monthās bad weather, our program on the visual evaluation of honey for competition has been rescheduled for this monthās meeting. See guidelines below.
As a reminder, evaluating honey for visual presentation does not include its taste)
Members are encouraged to bring some of their own honey to be evaluated by Kelsey Gerhardt, an experienced judge who uses the Welch System for Honey judging. (This is for educational purposes only; it is not an official competition).
Guidelines for Bringing Your Honey:
- Bring honey in a 1-pound clear glass jar, no plastic containers
- Queen Line jar if at all possible.
- No Queen Line jar⦠Use something similar⦠Must be clear glass
- Labeling: NO Label is preferred, but a labeled jar will be allowed
- Place an identifier on the bottom of the jar.
- BEST: Fill bottle a few days in advance.
- Freshly poured honey will have minute air bubbles and other distortions.
- Fill to the āFill Lineā on classic Queen Line jars.
