Our Inaugural 2024 Meeting is All About Honey Evaluation
Remember - Bring Your Own Honey For Evaluation by a PRO 😃
Best to prepare your honey WELL in Advance. - See suggestions below.
We will address evaluating honey for visual presentation. (This does not include its taste)
Members are encouraged to bring some of their own honey to be evaluated by Kelsey Gerhardt, an experienced judge who uses the Welch System for Honey judging. (This is for educational purposes only; it is not an official competition).
Guidelines for Bringing Your Honey:
- Bring honey in a 1-pound clear glass jar, no plastic containers
- Queen Line jar if at all possible.
- No Queen Line jar… Use something similar… Must be clear glass
- Labeling: NO Label is preferred, but a labeled jar will be allowed
- Place an identifier on the bottom of the jar.
- BEST: Fill bottle a few days in advance.
- Freshly poured honey will have minute air bubbles and other distortions.
- Fill to the “Fill Line” on classic Queen Line jars.
