CIBA Members and ALL Interested Beekeepers
CIBA Beekeeping Meeting
Monday, June 20th
Holliday Park Nature Center
6363 Spring Mill Rd., 46260
This has been a relatively GOOD spring for honey-bees and beekeepers. 😃 The main nectar flow is past, though white clover and a few other nectar sources persist. - Your priorities will vary depending on your circumstances. - Some considerations include:
- What to look for in hive inspections
- Summer dearth is coming, HOT and DRY with much less nectar availability. What to do?
- Bearding: In hot humid weather bees often cluster en-masse on the front of the hive. - This is normal, but one should be aware.
- Do bees need extra room? - There is a concern for backfilling..
- Varroa mites: Have you treated yet? What are good options now?
- Is there enough honey for me to harvest? - If so, how to harvest and extract?
- When will robbing become an issue? How to prepare?
- Some beekeepers will be re-queening in early July, Why? Is this for you? If so, how?
These and other questions may be on your mind. - Join us on Monday to hear experienced beekeepers discuss these questions.
