I have taken the survey.  It is fairly straight forward, and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
(Unless you are like me and always have too much to say ;-)

The requested information can go a long way in providing better services to our Indiana Beekeeping.
Please at least take a moment to scan the request below

Your time and input will be Much Appreciated

Subject: Honeybee Loss Survey- Your help appreciated

Good afternoon….

While I had hoped to send this survey out a couple of months ago…some things take longer than expected…

The purpose of this e-mail is to ask your help in sharing a survey with any and all beekeepers who you might have a connection with….

This e-mail (below) and associated URL link provides the recipient with access to that survey that I hope will help us better understand and quantify the losses of bees in Indiana over the past months.

If they receive it more than one time … that is OK….We just ask that they fill it out once.

Feel free to cut and paste or just forward…

This survey is accessed via the link below (in blue)….responses will be automatically aggregated and names will not be associated with the answers and no e-mail addresses will be gathered unless they are intentionally provided within the survey by the participant.

I will rely upon you (if you wish) to share this with your mailing lists…. The broader the distribution the better the results we will have to share.

Thank you for your cooperation….Please feel free to call or e-mail if you have questions or concerns.

All the best

Survey to Assess Honeybee Losses in Indiana - August 2014

By many accounts Indiana beekeepers have yet again experienced substantial honeybee losses over the past winter.

Such losses result not only in disappointment and personal monetary loss but also can impact the production of honey and other products of the hive and perhaps more significantly the potential for successful pollination of horticultural crops (fruits and vegetables) in the state.

In an attempt to quantify the losses…a survey has been developed to informally gather some information that will allow the assessment of honeybee losses of Indiana beekeepers during the winter of 2013 and spring of 2014.

This survey is specifically for those Indiana Beekeepers whether a hobby beekeeper or a commercial beekeeper who had honeybees from fall 2013 to today….or at least until April of 2014.

The participation of beekeepers in completing this survey is requested and greatly appreciated will help provide useful information about bee losses and inform those interested in the future of honeybees to better understand the true extent of the losses in Indiana.

The electronic survey will be available through the first week in September and should take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
You may share the URL link with other beekeepers but are asked to take the survey only once….If you cannot complete the survey… you should be able to save it and complete it at a later time.

Results of this survey will be anonymous unless a participant chooses to add their name and contact information so that we may share with them the information or answer related questions. At no time with any contact information be associated with the data.

My thanks to all who have contributed to the development and distribution of this survey including both Indiana beekeeping associations.

If you have questions or concerns or issues with completing the survey...feel free to contact me directly at your convenience.

Thank you for your continued interest in beekeeping.
