Pollen Patties will be available at tomorrow evening’s CIBA Meeting.
These patties are 1# each and contain 15% pollen. They will be $4 each.
Early Spring brood development is highly dependent on adequate pollen availability. (Pollen provides protein and other important nutrients). NOW would be a good time to add pollen substitute, particularly if your colony is weak.
Place patty directly on bars over the brood area for best benefit. (You might want to begin with 1/2 patty, check its use after a week, add more as needed. (Once spring bloom and nectar flow is going strong, remove any excess). - Also, Pollen Patty’s freeze well. Any unused can be put in a plastic bag and frozen for next fall/winter.
The Indy Southside Beekeepers (Meets 1st Tuesdays in Wanamaker) ordered in bulk for their members; there are some remaining. Steve Pryor, President, will be be attending and have them available.
