Fall feeding and Sugar Boards can be important for over winter survival.
The Malinoski family has obtained a large quantity of granulated sugar in 50 pound bags and will be making it available for area beekeepers.
- Available tomorrow evening ONLY (September 2, 2015).
- Cash preferred (No Credit Cards)
Estimate your upcoming needs for this fall and next spring. (Personally, I am estimating about 30 pounds per colony)
- Feeding requirements vary, depending on your colony's current reserves.
- (50 to 60 pounds stored honey is recommended. - more is better.)
- 2:1 (sugar to water) is recommended for fall feeding.
- 1:1 for spring feeding.
- Feed inside - (Front feeding may result in robbing.)
- Start now.. Feed until overnight temperatures go below freezing, or colony weight suggests adequate stores.
- Sugar Boards are Insurance reserves.
- Each Sugar Boards takes 12 to 15 lbs of sugar.
- Spring Feeding varies depending on survival rates.
Tomorrow’s Indy Southside Beekeepers meeting will feature a presentation on varroa mites, and fall preparations.

CIBA (Central Indiana Beekeepers) will be holding our Third Annual Sugar Board Social. - FREE
- Sheridan area. (Directions available later on CIBA website.)
- All local beekeepers are invited.
- Learn to make your own Sugar Boards.
- Bring 12-14 lbs sugar per board
- Boards will be available while supplies last
- Guest Speaker - TBA
- Pitch-in lunch. CIBA provides the meat.
- Drawing for a single-deep hive, frames included.
- Auction of various items: Beekeeping and other.
